Honoring Blake's Legacy at the 3rd Annual Opt Outside toFight Cancer 5K

On June 2nd, 2024, the Blake Pottle Foundation held its 3rd annual Opt Outside to Fight Cancer 5K at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend, WA. This was a testament to the enduring spirit and impact of Blake Pottle, the inspiration behind this meaningful event.

The Opt Outside to Fight Cancer 5K was first launched in 2022, conceived as a way to celebrate Blake's contagious passion for the outdoors and his unwavering fight against cancer. At just 38 years old, Blake was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic colorectal cancer, but he faced this devastating diagnosis with unparalleled intention, hope, and faith. Though he ultimately did not find a medical cure, Blake's legacy of resilience, optimism, and compassion lives on through the work of the Foundation that bears his name.

The 2024 event built upon the success of the previous two years. Despite facing some unexpected weather challenges on the day of the race, the Blake Pottle Foundation remained undaunted, quickly adapting to keep the event going strong. Over 200 participants joined together to run, walk, and pay tribute to Blake's memory, raising crucial funds to support the Foundation's mission.

What sets the Opt Outside to Fight Cancer 5K apart is its deeper purpose. This is not just another run - it is an opportunity for the community to come together, honor those impacted by cancer, and make a tangible difference in the lives of families facing this unimaginable battle. The Blake Pottle Foundation is steadfast in its commitment to meet people and their families where they are in the most challenging moments, providing direct support and resources to ease the immense burdens they face. 100% of the proceeds from the 5K go directly to supporting this multifaceted approach, ensuring the Foundation can continue making an impactful difference for patients, their loved ones, and the medical professionals who care for them.

For the Blake Pottle Foundation, this annual event is a labor of love, a chance to uplift Blake's inspiring story and rally the community around a cause that was deeply personal to him. As one of Blake'sNine Truths states, "when it comes to your will to live, yes, live for yourself. But more importantly, live for others." That sentiment is the beating heart of the Opt Outside to Fight Cancer 5K, and it will continue to guide the Foundation's efforts long into the future.

So mark your calendars for June 20, 2025 - join us as we lace up our sneakers, head outdoors, and carry on Blake's legacy of living with intention, hope, and faith. Together, we can make a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.

"I attended the event for the Blake Pottle Foundation and wanted to let you know it was a wonderful day with my friend Candy Pottle and her family and friends.  How lucky for me that I was asked to join them.

The event was perfect. Perfect location, coffee truck, sunshine, lots of wonderful people and their children, pets and smiles all around.

Special people like the Pottle’s are the ones that help make other people’s lives a bit easier if not a whole lot easier!

And, thank you for your part."

Sincerely,
Babits Faires
