The Swedish Foundation is the grateful recipient of all proceeds from the 2023 Blake Pottle Foundation “Opt Outside to Fight Cancer” 5K. This generous donation is being used to purchase a much-needed ceiling lift for patients receiving treatment at SCI Issaquah. A special thank you to the nursing team, especially Rebecca Montanez, for their guidance and leadership in this process.

"On behalf of the Blake Pottle Foundation, we are humbled to have the opportunity to give back to the Swedish Cancer Institute. Like so many things, until you experience something firsthand you can never imagine the physical toll a cancer diagnosis will take on you and your loved ones. When health declines and mobility issues surface it takes a lot of planning and diligence to keep everyone safe. We hope that the ceiling lift will ease the burden and provide reassurance for the patient, the nurses and the caregivers of those battling cancer."

– Board of Directors, Blake Pottle Foundation

"A cancer diagnosis has a huge impact on the patient and family. Cancer and the treatments for cancer can cause life changing mobility issues. Transferring patients can cause patients pain, guilt, and shame when the appropriate equipment is not available. It can also cause staff injury and a feeling of helplessness for the family. Having this ceiling lift available to our patients and staff would eliminate access and comfort issues felt by some of our patients which would allow them to focus on fighting and healing." We cannot thank theBlake Pottle Family enough!"

- Rebecca Montanez, Manager, Swedish Cancer Institute Issaquah
